Today Chris wished me a happy 'Eid Mubarak' and apparently that is the end of a whole month of fasting (just during the day - no food or drink). I think that would be impressive anywhere, but here... I don't know if you have been watching the news, but this place is scorching hot. The trees allong the freeway have been dying. I have seen water trucks watering just the forest outside housing developments. I think that they didn't want it to die, loose the shade and create a fire hazard. There are always crews and piles of dead brush when you drive around. The trees are dying and this woman managed not to drink water during the day for the last month. That is dedication.
Why can't all celebrations be like 'national cuddle up day'? January 6, it's real. Now THAT is a holiday.
