Overview of Parker and Lyra a few months in

Overview of Parker and Lyra:

Lyra and Parker are starting to sit up now. They are getting better control of their bodies and really starting to explore the world. The other day Lyra had a stuffed bear Laura had crocheted and she would hold it out, look at it, and try to stuff the whole head in her mouth, then hold it out again, attack the arms, then hold it out again, dive for the head. So cute. Parker Just smiles. That is what he does. He is getting to be so beautiful. I have yet to snap a picture that really shows how beautiful he is.

Both of them are starting to talk. Parker coos and smiles and gurgles while holding out his hands, looking at them, watching them move, examining the fingers and how he can intertwine them. Lyra growls and does 'raspberries' with her tong. She also starts yelling when she is really interested or amused with something. Unfortunately her yell sounds an awful lot like a crying, yelling baby so when she is truly amused, most people keep looking at her like they think she is very upset.
Lyra is developing uber-ticklish ribs. Just softly rubbing them sometimes gets her squirming and giggling. Parker isn't quite as quick to giggle and laugh, which surprises me because he lives trying to split his entire face with a smile. Yesterday he started choking and coughed up a mouthful of slobber, spit and mucus but still, through all of it, he was trying to smile. Finally, he pulled off a full grin as the whole slobbery, stringy, bubbly mess was drooling out of his mouth. Somehow the pleased smile made the whole mess unbelievably endearing.

Lyra is most beautiful at night; she starts carefully focusing and babbling. Last night she was in Chris's lap, playing with the strings of his hoodie. She was so content, happily alternating between 'raspberries,' 'lalala,' 'coo,' and a soft hum. It was beautiful. There we were, Chris happy with humming Lyra as she tangled her hands and arms in his hoddie strings. Me, snuggled close into Chris's shoulder with Parker who was smiling as he slept in my arms. I thought, 'everyone should have this.' And everyone should. What a sad, sad thing that anyone would not have the chance to sit there watching as their clever little baby contentedly discovers the world.... or, well, at least Chris's hoodie strings.

(I know there are more pictures of Lyra than Parker. She was just particularly camera friendly this last bit)
